Tuscan Bathroom
Three wall Italian landscape
Colours to match bathroom tiles
Imaginary Italian landscape inspired by book references of umbrella pines and villas of Italian estates. Colours are muted to match the pale peach walls, and pinky beige bathroom tiles: together with client's desire for understatement, as the bathroom is situated directly off the bedroom. Trompe l'oeil stone coping and corner balustrades are painted to appear as extension of the bath side tiles.
The overall muted effect is achieved by mixing all colours in pale emulsion, adding scumble glaze to give colours transparency. After mural completion, its possible to use a scumble glaze wash with a slight colour tone, to enhance, or change the tone of a mural. Generally, Raw Umber (wood brown) or Burnt Umber (red brown) is useful to give an aged look.

Darker photographs are without lights on in bathroom. Mural would always be seen WITH the lights on.
